Description of key information

MMT[EHTG] has been characterised as readily biodegradable. The Log Koc and Log Kow values equal 8.46 and 10.98, respectively. It is likely that MMT[EHTG] will partition into the sediment. However, the potential for long residence times in the sediment are low and therefore chronic exposures to sediment dwelling organisms are unlikely.

In accordance with section 9.5.1 of column 2 of REACH Annex X, the long-term toxicity testing on sediment dwelling organisms shall be proposed by the registrant if the chemical safety assessment according to Annex I indicates the need to investigate further the effects on sediment dwelling organisms. Due to the equivocal nature of the indicators for sediment dwelling organism risk, a sediment organism chronic toxicity test is not proposed and is not considered to be necessary. As an alternative, the PNEC sediment was estimated based on the equilibrium partitioning method.
