Endpoint:
bioaccumulation in aquatic species: fish
Data waiving:
exposure considerations
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because direct and indirect exposure of the aquatic compartment to the substance is unlikely
Justification for type of information:
In accordance with Column 2 of REACH Annex IX (section 9.3.2), a study on bioaccumulation in aquatic species (fish) need not be conducted if direct and indirect exposure of the aquatic compartment is unlikely. Predicted environmental concentrations associated with manufacture and downstream use indicate that direct/indirect exposures to the aquatic environment are unlikely. In addition, the substance has been shown to be readily biodegradable.

Description of key information

In accordance with Column 2 of REACH Annex IX (section 9.3.2), a study on bioaccumulation in aquatic species (fish) need not be conducted if direct and indirect exposure of the aquatic compartment is unlikely. Predicted environmental concentrations associated with manufacture and downstream use indicate that direct/indirect exposures to the aquatic environment are unlikely. In addition, the substance has been shown to be readily biodegradable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Although it considered wholly justified to omit the bioaccumulation study for this endpoint, in order to allow the CHESAR software to function correctly an indicative value of Log BCF = 3.031 has been used in the Chemical Safety Assessment. Given the limitations of the predictive software the registrant considers that this result must be regarded with some caution.
