Additional information

Data are taken from the CRC handbook (Lide 2008). No information on the primary source of this data or the methods used is available. However, this information is taken from a reliable peer reviewed handbook and so can be considered reliable and suitable for use as the key study for this endpoint. The flash point of 2-methylbut-2-ene is -20C. This result is supported by data from the Merck Handbook (O'Neil 2006), which determined a flash point for this substance of 0°F.

This endpoint in conjunction with the boiling point of 38.56C will result in a classification of Category 2, hazard statement, highly flammable liquid and vapour (flash point <23 °C and boiling point of >35 °C).
