Photolysis

Atmospheric reaction between photochemically produced hydroxyl radicals and dibromomethane in the vapor phase is expected to be the main route of degradation in the atmosphere of dibromomethane. This assumption is supported by experimental study of Zhang et. al. as well as by calculation of the rate constantusing AOP Program v. 1.92 from EPISUITE v. 4.0. The experimental of dibromomethane has been estimated to be 0.29 years (105.9 days).

Hydrolysis

Dibromomethanecan be hydrolyzed under environmental conditions and the hydrolysis half-life of 143 days at pH 7 and 25° C.
