Additional information

Two in vitro Bacterial mutagenicity assays (with and without metabolic activation) and two in vitro chromosome aberration tests are available for dibromomethane. The results of these studies showed positive evidence of mutagenicity. Dibromomethane was reported to be mutagenic in some strains of Salmonella typhimurium (TA 100) and in E. coli (WU 361089 and k39) without metabolic activation and in TA 100 with metabolic activation. Dibromomethane was considered clastogenic in chromosome aberration test using human lymphocytes and increases d the aberration ratio/cell in Chinese Hamster cells.

Dibromomethane was reported not mutagenic inDrosophila melanogastersex-linked recessive lethal study.
