Description of key information
Homosalate had no toxic effects on Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata during the 72‑hour test period up to and including the saturated solution with the mean measured concentration of 8.9 µg/L, which is the maximum concentration which could be maintained under the conditions of the test.

The available test with algae was performed with the freshwater green algal species Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata according to the OECD Guideline 201 (2006), and the Commission Regulation (EC) No 761/2009, C.3 in a 72 -hour static test. Due to the low water solubility of the test item, a dispersion of the test item with the loading rate of 100 mg/L was ultrasonic treated for 15 minutes and continuously stirred at room temperature in the dark over 96 hours. Then, the dispersion was filtered. The dilutions 1:32, 1:16, 1:8, 1:4 and1:2 of the undiluted filtrate with the loading rate of 100 mg/L and the undiluted filtrate (loading rate 100 mg/L) were used as test mediaand tested in parallel with a control.
Homosalate had no toxic effects on Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata during the 72‑hour test period up to and including the mean measured concentration of 8.9 µg/L, which is the maximum concentration which could be maintained under the conditions of the test (undiluted filtrate with 100 mg/L loading rate).
The test concentration of 8.9 µg/L was determined to be the 72‑hour NOEC. This value might even be higher, but concentrations of the test item above the solubility limit in the test water were not tested, in accordance with the test guidelines. The 72‑hour EC50 was higher than 8.9 µg/L, the maximum concentration of the test item which could be maintained under the conditions of the test.Information on Registered Substances comes from registration dossiers which have been assigned a registration number.
