Details on inhalation exposure:
GENERATION OF TEST ATMOSPHERE / CHAMBER DESCRIPTION
-Animals were exposed for 6 hours to the near saturated vapours of the test materials. Each exposure was conducted in a 500-liter stainless steel inhalation chamber equipped at the inlet with one or two fritted-disc glass bubblers which contained the test material. A glass trap was placed in the line between this vapour generator and the chamber to collect any entrained liquid. The air flow through the system was 18 liters per minutes (one bubbler), or 35 liters per minute (two bubblers). Dimethyl phosphonate vapour was generated at room temperature.
No attempt was made to determine the actual chamber concentration during the exposure. The mean theoretical concentration was calculated for each material from the air flow and net loss material.
