Key result
Boiling pt.:
303 °C
Atm. press.:
101.325 kPa
Boiling pt.:
577 K
Atm. press.:
101.325 kPa

Observed boiling point, first determination: 300.9°C (at 96.24 kPa)

Observed boiling point, second determination: 301.1°C (at 96.24 kPa)

The recorded atmospheric pressure at the time of the experiment was recorded as 96.24 kPa, the boiling point of the test material was corrected to normalised pressure using the Sidney Young equation:

Δp = 101.325 kPa – p

p = pressure in kPa at the time of the experiment

ƒT= rate of change of boiling temperature with pressure in K/kPa (0.47 K/kPa from OECD 103)

T = temperature in K

Tn= normal boiling point.

Corrected boiling point: 577 K (303°C) at 101.325 kPa

Conclusions:
Under the conditions of the stduy, the boiling point of hexenyl-3-cis salicylate at 101.325 kPa was determined to be 577 K (303°C).
Executive summary:

In a GLP-compliant study conducted in line with OECD 103, EU Method and EPA OPPTS 830.7220, the boiling point of hexenyl-3-cis salicylate was determined using the Siwoloboff method. The boiling point of the substance was determined to be 577 K (303°C) at 101.325 kPa.

Description of key information

Boiling point was determined to be 303ºC (577 K) at 101.325 kPa; study conducted in accordance with OECD 103, EU A.2, EPA OPPTS 830.7220; Kruetzer (2010)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Boiling point at 101 325 Pa:
303 °C

Additional information

In a GLP-compliant study conducted in line with OECD 103, EU Method A.2 and EPA OPPTS 830.7220, the boiling point of (z)-3-hexenyl salicylate was determined using the Siwoloboff method. The boiling point of the substance was determined to be 303°C (577 K) at 101.325 kPa. As the study was performed to GLP and standardised guidelines, it was allocated a reliability score of 1 and considered to be the key study.

Supporting information is presented as a company product specification which reported the boiling point to be 271°C.
