Endpoint:
vapour pressure
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2 January 2013 to 7 January 2013
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Remarks:
Study conducted in compliance with agreed protocols, with no or minor deviations from standard test guidelines and/or minor methodological deficiencies, which do not affect the quality of the relevant results. The study report was conclusive, done to a valid guideline and the study was conducted under GLP conditions.
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.4 (Vapour Pressure)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
effusion method: vapour pressure balance
Key result
Temp.:
25 °C
Vapour pressure:
0.15 Pa
Transition / decomposition:
no
Remarks:
The test material did not change appearance under the conditions of the test.

Table 1: Summary of vapour pressure data

 Run  Log10 [Vp(25 °C)]
 1  -0.771
 2  -0.804
 3  -0.890
 Mean  -0.822
 Vapour pressure  0.151 Pa

A total of ten runs were completed for the main sequence. Equilibrium with regard to vapor pressure was assessed to have been reached over the first three runs. Thus runs one to three have been used to calculate the definitive vapor pressure value for the test item.

Conclusions:
Under the conditions of the study, the vapour pressure of (Z)-3-hexenyl salicylate was determined to be 0.15 Pa at 25 °C using the vapour pressure balance method.
Executive summary:

In a GLP-compliant vapour pressure study conducted in line with EU Method A.4, the vapour pressure of (Z)-3-hexenyl salicylate was determined using the vapour pressure balance method. The vapour pressure of the substance was determined to be 0.15 Pa at 25 °C.
