Description of key information

The Koc for diethyl sulphide is calculated to be 26.18 using the Gerstl equation.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Koc at 20 °C:
26.18

Additional information

In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VIII, the adsorption/desorption study does not need to be conducted as based on the physico-chemical properties the substance can be expected to have a low potential for adsorption (the substance has a log octanol water partition coefficient less than 3).

The log Koc has been calculated using the Gerstl equation provided in Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment (IR & CSA) Chapter 16 "Environmental exposure estimate", which is considered an appropriate technique. There are limitation is design and reporting, but the calculated value is considered suitable for this endpoint.

[LogKoc: 1.42]
