Two ready biodegradability study (OECD 301D and OECD 301F) and one study on COD BOD are available for 2-(dimethylamino)-2-methylpropan-1-ol (DMAMP).

A ready biodegradation study according to OECD 301 D showed 8% degradation after 28days (Kutter, 1996).

In the second ready biodegradability test no biodegradation occurred during the test period, though there were indications that the test compound was at least partly inhibitory to the microbial inoculum under the conditions of the test. The COD/BOD study has insufficient documentation and hence, cannot be used for the assessment. Based on the results of the OECD 301D ready biodegradability test, the substance is expected to slowly biodegrade in the environment.
