First-aid measures

Inhalation : If inhaled consult a physician. Immediately move to fresh air. Keep person calm. If breathing is irregular or stopped, administer artificial respiration.

Skin contact : Flush area with lukewarm water. Do not use hot water. If frostbite has occurred, call a physician.

Eye contact : Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 5 minutes. Seek medical advice.

Ingestion : Not a probable route of exposure. However, in case of accidental ingestion, call a physician.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media:

Use extinguishing measures that are appropriate to local circumstances and the surrounding environment.

Water mist, Carbon dioxide (CO2), Dry chemical,

Specific hazards during firefighting:

Vapours, released on heating, can form explosive mixtures with air. Vapours or gases may travel considerable distances to ignition source and flashback. Hazardous decomposition products formed under fire conditions: Hydrogen fluoride Fluorinated hydrocarbons Fluorinated compounds

Special protective equipment for fire-fighters:

In the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus. Wear suitable protective equipment.

Further information:

Evacuate personnel to safe areas. Evacuate personnel and keep upwind of fire.Shut off source of fuel, if possible and without risk. Cylinders are equipped with pressure and temperature relief devices, but may still rupture under fire conditions. Cool containers / tanks with water spray.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions : Avoid breathing vapours or dust from heated material. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Ventilate area, especially low or enclosed places where heavy vapours might collect. Use the indicated respiratory protection if the occupational exposure limit is exceeded and/or in case of product release (dust). Wear personal protective equipment.

Environmental precautions : Should not be released into the environment. Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so.

Handling and storage

Handling

Advice on safe handling:

Avoid breathing vapours or mist. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Use sufficient ventilation to keep employee exposure below recommended limits. Keep away from heat and flame.

Storage

Requirements for storage areas and containers: Store in a well-ventilated area away from heat and sunlight. Observe precautions for storage of compressed gases.

Storage temperature :  keep from exceeding 50 °C

Exposure controls / personal protection

Engineering measures

Explosion proof mechanical ventilation should be used in enclosed areas. Use sufficient ventilation to keep employee exposure below recommended limits. Mechanical ventilation should be used in low or enclosed places.

Personal protective equipment

Respiratory protection : Use a positive pressure air supplied respirator if exposure levels are not known or there are any other circumstances where air purifying respirators may not provide adequate protection.

Hand protection: Material: Chemical-resistant gloves

Breakthrough time is not determined for the product. Change gloves often!,

Please observe the instructions regarding permeability and breakthrough time which are provided by the supplier of the gloves. Also take into consideration the specific local conditions under which the product is used, such as the danger of cuts, abrasion, and the contact time.

Eye protection: Wear safety glasses. Wear coverall chemical splash goggles and face shield when the possibility exists for eye and face contact due to splashing or spraying of material.

Skin and body protection: Wear as appropriate: To prevent any contact, wear impervious clothing such as gloves, apron, boots, jacket, pants, hood or totally encapsulating chemical suit with breathing air supply.

Hygiene measures: General industrial hygiene practice. Wash hands before breaks and at the end of workday.

Protective measures: Wear suitable protective equipment. All chemical protective clothing should be visually inspected prior to use. Clothing and gloves should be replaced in case of chemical or physical damage or if contaminated. Ensure that eye flushing systems and safety showers are located close to the working place.

Stability and reactivity

Conditions to avoid : Temperature : above 50 °C

Stable at normal temperatures and storage conditions.

Decomposes on heating.

Materials to avoid : Incompatible products, Metals, Alkali metals, Alkaline earth metals, oxidizers

Hazardous decomposition products: Decomposes with heat., Hazardous gases or vapours may be released during decomposition., Hazardous thermal decomposition products may include: Hydrogen fluoride, Fluorinated compounds
