Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

There are no data for the registered substance. However, the need to perform ecotoxicity testing for tripotassium propylsilanetriolate is waived on the basis that the substance exists as an aqueous solution with a pH of 14. As the pH is lowered, the substance condenses to form polymeric species at high enough concentrations. Therefore, exposure of the environment will be low. A low level of exposure to the monomer propylsilanetriol is possible and it is favoured over the production of it dimers, trimers, tetramers at neutral pH and low concentrations (relevant for the environment). The properties of propylsilanetriol can be read-across from tests carried out for trimethoxypropylsilane (CAS 1067-25-4), which hydrolyses rapidly to give propylsilanetriol and methanol.

Short-term toxicity data available with the structurally analogous substance trimethoxypropylsilane (CAS 1067-25-0) are as follows:

·    LC50, Fish: >746 mg/l based on geometric mean-measured concentration of the substance.

·    EC50, Invertebrates: >816 mg/l based on nominal concentration of the substance.

·    EC50, Algae: >913 mg/l based on nominal concentration of the substance.

·    NOEC, algae: ≥913 mg/l based on nominal concentration of the substance.

Short-term toxicity data for propylsilanetriol for fish, invertebrates and algae have been determined using an appropriate calculation method (ECOSAR v.1.11 Mayo-Bean 2012). The resulting short-term toxicity values are in excess of >100 mg/l.
