Description of key information

Depending on local conditions and existing concentrations, disturbances in the biodegradation process of activated sludge are possible.
EC20 (30 min) ca. 7 mg/L and EC50 (30 min) ca. 130 mg/L (nominal) for activated sludge (OECD 209)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

For the Sulfonium copound mixture the influence on the respiration of microorganisms was investigated in a GLP guideline study according to OECD 209 (Activated Sludge, Respiration Inhibition Test) [BASF AG, 2003]. The study was conducted with activated sludge from laboratory wastewater plants treating municipal sewage. After 30 minutes of incubation the EC20 was ca. 7 mg/L and the EC50 was ca. 130 mg/L based on nominal concentration.
