The test material has been determined to be non-flammable in both a key and supporting study.

Additional information

The flammability (siolids) of the test material has been addressed by providing both a key and supporting study.

The key study (2012) was assigned a reliability score of 1, using the principles set out in Klimisch (1997). The study was performed in line with GLP and an accepted standardised guideline with a high standard of reporting and is considered suitable for assessment as an accurate reflection of the test material.

During the study, the flammability of the test material was assessed in accordance with UN Method N.1. Under the conditions of the test, the test material failed to ignite and so further tests were not performed. The test material is therefore not classified as highly flammable in relation to its burning characteristics.

 

The supporting study (2012) was assigned a reliability score of 2, using the principles set out by Klimisch (1997). The study was performed in line with a standardised guideline, however it was not stated whether the study was conducted under GLP conditions.

During the study, the flammability of the test material was assessed in accordance with EU Method A.10. Under the conditions of the study, the test material failed to ignite and so further tests were not performed. The test material is therefore not classified as highly flammable in relation to its burning characteristics.

Based on the chemical structure of the substance both pyrophoric properties nor flammability in contact with water were predicted to be negative and so flammability testing for these endpoints, was not conducted.

Justification for classification or non-classification

In accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008, the test material does not require classification for flammability as it produced negative results in the flammability tests performed. In additional, the material is predicted to give negative results with respect to pyrophoric properties and flammability in contact with water.
