Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The concentration dependent inhibition of respiration according to OECD 209 was determined for both the base and the test substance formulation. A dose response for a range of test substance concentration was conducted. The measured values were then graphed and a curve fit was applied to determine test substance concentration at which the measured sludge repsiration was reduced by 50% (EC50).

The graphs showing the plotted values are fit by non-linea regression and provide both the mean statistics for each measure data point and the 95% confidence intervals for the respective curve fit.

The EC50 value determined for the test substance formulation was 3.468 Log10(EC50) or 2937 ppm. The EC50 value determined for the base was 4.149 Log10(EC50) or 14092 ppm. The test result graphs show the independent determinations for the base formulation alone and with the addition of 10% Floraester 30 at each measured concentration of the base formulation. The reference substance (3,5 dichlorophenol) demonstrated a reduction from 29.3 O2 ppm/g dwt/hr to 4.9 O2 ppm/g dwt/hr at a concentration of 20 ppm, validating the sensitvity of the sludge respiration to the positive reference substance.
