STABILITY AND STORAGE CONDITIONS OF TEST MATERIAL
- Storage condition of test material: Ambient, stored under nitrogen in a desiccator
TREATMENT OF TEST MATERIAL PRIOR TO TESTING
- Treatment of test material prior to testing: Following receipt of the test item, it was found that the material readily absorbed moisture in the parent container. Consequently, on advice from the Sponsor, a sub-sample was dried overnight at 100°C and then stored in a desiccator under a headspace of nitrogen. - Surface tension:
- 33.5 mN/m
- Temp.:
- 20 °C
- Conc.:
- 90 vol%
- Conclusions:
- The surface tension of calcium bis[(Z)-N-methyl-N-(1-oxo-9-octadecenyl) aminoacetate] was determined to be 33.5 mN/m. The test item was considered to be surface active.
- Executive summary:
A study to determine the surface tension of calcium bis[(Z)-N-methyl-N-(1-oxo-9-octadecenyl) aminoacetate] was conducted according to the OECD 115 guideline (Dunning 2018). The surface tension was determined at 20°C with a surface tension torsion balance using the OECD harmonised ring method.
The surface tension of a 90% saturated solution of the test item was determined to be 33.5 mN/m. As the result was less than 60 mN/m, the test item was considered to be surface active.
The study is GLP-compliant and was conducted according to the standard guideline, therefore is considered reliable without restrictions and suitable as a key study for this endpoint.
Reference
The measurements were conducted immediately after the final test solution preparation.

From the measurements, it was observed that there was an initial decrease in surface tension readings. The final surface tension result was taken from the measurements between 10 and 30 minutes.
Mean calibration corrected surface tension = 36.5 mN/m
Harkins-Jordan corrected value = 33.5 mN/m
Description of key information
