Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

The PBT assessment of decyl isooctadecanoate (CAS 84605-08-3) now regarded as Monoesters of C16 and C18 (branched and linear) fatty acids with decan-1-oli s based on the criteria set out in the “Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment, Chapter R.11: PBT Assessment” (ECHA, 2017).

Persistence

Decyl isooctadecanoate (CAS 84605-08-3) now regarded as Monoesters of C16 and C18 (branched and linear) fatty acids with decan-1-oli s readily biodegradable according to the OECD criteria (86.0% in 28 d, OECD 301 B). Therefore, the substance does not meet the screening criterion for persistence and is not rated P or vP.

Bioaccumulation

Not assessed since the subtance does not fulfil the P/vP criteria.

Toxicity

Neither long-term nor short-term toxicity tests resulted in any toxic effects to aquatic organisms up to the limit of water solubility of decyl isooctadecanoate (CAS 84605-08-3) now regarded as Monoesters of C16 and C18 (branched and linear) fatty acids with decan-1-ol. Furthermore, the substance is not classified according to the consolidated version of Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 and further amendments (ATPs). Therefore, the criteria set out in Annex XIII of Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 are not met and it is concluded that the substance is not T.

In conclusion, the substance is not PBT/vPvB.
