Results and discussion
Any other information on results incl. tables
In several studies 3,4 -Dimethylphenol was found to be biodegradable. Tested was the degradability in
- in contaminated groundwater from the American Creosote Works Superfund site, Pensacola, FL (fully in 2 Weeks)
- in St. Lawrence River water (readily)
- with adapted sludge
- in nine days within a hard, carbonaceous woody loam at 19 deg C
- 45.8% after 10 days from a coal gasification waste water feed and an acclimated sludge seed
- 97.5% chemical oxygen demand loss after 5 days in a screening test with an adapted activated sludge seeds
- 27% theoretical biological oxygen demand after 12 hr using an activated sludge seed
- 43% theoretical biological oxygen demand in five days, obtained from a screening test using a sewage seedApplicant's summary and conclusion
- Interpretation of results:
- readily biodegradable
