Guideline:
OECD Guideline 110 (Particle Size Distribution / Fibre Length and Diameter Distributions - Method A: Particle Size Distribution (effective hydrodynamic radius)
Principles of method if other than guideline:
To determine the Volumetric Particle Size Distribution using the Microtrac S3500 Particle Size Analyzer, a small amount of pigment along with 2-3 drops of Tamol SG-1 dispersant was added to the mixing tank. When the appropriate concentration was achieved, the ultrasonic probe turned on and the PSD analysis commenced. Three readings were taken, and the average was calculated. Reference: ASTM B822.

Test guideline
Qualifier:
equivalent or similar to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 109 (Density of Liquids and Solids)
Principles of method if other than guideline:
To determine the skeletal density of the pigment by helium gas displacement, a sample was dried using an IR balance and then transferred to the Accupyc II 1340 Pycnometer. The instrument took three readings and the average was calculated. Reference: ASTM D5965 Test Method B.
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
air comparison pycnometer (for solids)
