Description of key information

Under the conditions of an EU Method A.6 guideline study, the water solubility of Dioctyltin mercaptopropionate was determined to be < 0.4 mg/L at pH 7.7.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
0.4 mg/L
at the temperature of:
30 °C

Additional information

The water solubility of the test material was investigated in accordance with the standardised guideline EU Method A.6 using the flask method. The study was awarded a reliability score of 2 in accordance with the criteria set forth by Klimisch et al. (1997).

A preliminary test was performed to calculate an approximate solubility and then the flask method was performed with three vessels. Samples were stirred at 30 °C for 24, 48 and 72 hours before filtration and then analysed using ICP AES.

Under the conditions of the study the water solubility of the test material was determined to be < 0.4 mg/L at pH 7.7 based on the mean value of measured tin concentrations of  < 0.1 mg/L and a tin amount of the test sample of 26.4 %.
