Description of key information
A number of articles in the public domain, published papers and Safety Data Sheets record the boiling point of tin as ranging from 2240-2625 °C .
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Boiling point at 101 325 Pa:
- 2 780 K
Additional information
The boiling point of tin recorded in the articles in the public domain for which legitimate access is available is 2260-2625 °C which almost covers the range of data available and so these values are considered acceptable. A value of 2507 °C (2780 K) has been chosen becasue this value appears most frequently in the available literature. For all intents and purposes the precise boling temperature is largely irrelevant because it has little or no useful applications and never arises in normal operations.
