Description of key information

2-(2-aminoethylamino)ethanol is acutely harmful to aquatic invertebrates

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In a static test conducted according to OECD guideline 202 investigating the toxicity of 2-(2-aminoethylamino)ethanol to Daphnia magna an EC50 of 22 mg/l was determined after 48 hours of exposure. The substance caused an increase in pH values and the data refer to non-neutralised samples. A study in compliance with guideline 79/831/EEC Annex V part C determined an EC 50 of 190 mg/l in treatments without pH adjustment (BASF AG, 1989).
