Safety pre-test 1

Heating on a magnesia groove

When heated on a magnesia groove over a Bunsen burner, the test item burned with an orange sooting flame.

Beaten with a hammer

When the test item was beaten with a hammer on the anvil, no reaction was observed

Safety pre-test 2

After reaching a temperature of 520 °C and cooling down the weight of the crucible was recorded with 620.77 mg, the gold sealing of the crucible was blue and bulged outwards.

Then the crucible was opened, the test item was black and it smelled like motor oil. The gold sealing was black from the inside.

Calibration

After calibration with indium and zinc the measurement of indium yielded the following values:

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
A screening test via DSC (differential scanning calorimetry) was conducted from 0 °C to 520 °C.
During the DSC run an endothermal event was observed at an onset of 483.21 °C.
As no exothermal event was detected, it is stated:
- the test item is not subject to the classification procedures for self-reactive sub-stances.
- the acceptance procedures for Class 1 explosives need not to be applied.
