Aquatic toxicity of PFBSK+ is well-studied, with a mixture of guideline studies provided by registrants or published in peer-reviewed scientific journals, as well as published non-guideline studies which were scientifically valid and applicable to regulatory endpoints. In the few cases where the free acid or an unspecified salt was used, experimental conditions indicate that the tested substance was entirely dissociated. The outcome was, therefore, equivalent to testing on the potassium salt. In addition to the aforementioned results, data from more exploratory in vivo and in vitro experiments lacking ready application to regulatory endpoints are available. Because the REACH guidance does not provide information useful for the interpretation of this last group of studies for the evaluation of toxicity, hazard assessment, and Classification & Labelling, data provided herein are to offer additional perspective on the scopes of current published research.
