Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
- -10 °C
Additional information
Key study
The melting point of the test item was assessed by Differential Scanning Calorimetry according to OECD Guideline 102 and in compliance with GLP principles (BASF SE, 2015). The melting temperature was found at -10 °C onset temperature in the heating run. A weak endothermic peak was found at -20 °C peak temperature. This was interpreted as the melting point of an impurity. In order to survey the thermic behavior of the test item a preliminary TG/DSC-Test (non-GLP) was run up to 600 °C. An endothermic peak starting at about 100 °C with a total weight loss at about 220 °C showed the vaporization of the test item.
Supporting study
In addition a literature review was conducted and the literature values were evaluated. The Hommel Handbook of dangerous goods (Hommel 2014) report the freezing point to be -12 °C at 1013.25 hPa. Furthermore the Handbook of Paint and Coating Raw Materials as cited by Knovel database (Knovel 2014) report the freezing point to be at -12 °C at 1013.25 hPa.
Based on available information, the metling point of the test item was determined to be - 10 °C (BASF SE, 2015) and the freezing point is considered to be -12 °C at 1013.25 hPa (Hommel, 2014; Knovel, 2014).
