Principles of method if other than guideline:
Determination of Zeta potential and isoelectric point using Zeta-meter MALVERN ZETASIZER 5000.
GLP compliance:
not specified
Type of method:
other: electrophoretic mobility
Instruments:

Key result
Zeta potential:
51 mV
pH:
3.1
Medium:
KNO3 solution
Remarks on result:
other: Conductivity = 1.6 mS/cm
Isoelectric Point:
>= 7.6 - <= 8
Remarks on result:
other: published data on cerine

The measured value was logical based on the isoelectric point values available in the literature. Indeed, for a pH (i.e. 3.1) below the isoelectric point (i.e. 7.6 to 8), the surface charge was well positive (i.e. + 51 mV).

Conclusions:
Zeta potential was equal to + 51 mV in a KNO3 solution at pH = 3.1.
Executive summary:

Zeta potential was determined in a non-GLP compliant study using a Zeta-meter MALVERN ZETASIZER 5000. For this measurement, the powdered sample was dissolved in a KNO3 solution at a concentration of 10E-1 M. Zeta potential was equal to + 51 mV at pH = 3.1.

The measured value was logical based on the isoelectric point values available in the literature. Indeed, for a pH (i.e. 3.7) below the isoelectric point (i.e. 7.6 to 8), the surface charge was well positive (i.e. + 31 mV).
