Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Data waiving (other justification):

In accordance with column 2 of REACH annex X, long-term toxicity testing on sediment shall be proposed by the registrant if the results of the chemical safety assessment indicates the need to investigate further the effects of the substance and/or relevant degradation products on sediment organisms. The choice of the appropriate test(s) depends on the results of the chemical safety assessment. Cerium dioxide does not meet the criteria to be classified as a dangerous substance. In particular, the results from the ecotoxicity tests performed on the different environmental compartments do not reveal any adverse effect. As a non classified substance, cerium dioxide does not required an exposure assessment and a risk characterization. In the absence of risk characterization, no refinement is necessary, especially for the PNECs. As a result, there is no need to launch a test for the sedimentary compartment.
