Description of key information

The available genetic toxicity data of 1,5-pentanediol are conclusively negative (OECD 471, 473, 476). There is no hint for any carcinogenic potential. 1,5-pentanediol is therefore considered to be non-carcinogenic.


 

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Justification for classification or non-classification

Due to the negative results of different in vitro genetic toxicity studies with 1,5-pentanediol, classification with respect to carcinogenicity is not warranted according to Regulation 1272/2008 (CLP).
