Description of key information

Anthracene oil is expected to show little acute toxicity, based on results obtained from closely related tar oils: LD50(oral, rat) ~ 4000 mg/kg bw, LD50(dermal, rat) > 2000 mg/kg bw. No acute intoxication is expected from inhalation exposure, given the low vapour pressure and observed low toxicity of this test substance. Inhalation will be assessed for repeated exposure (see IUCLID 7.5.3).
