Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

72H-EC50 (growth rate) was 37.4 (25.4 -60.1) mg/L, 72H-EC10 (growth rate) was 15.3 (<11.4-22.9) mg/L. 72H-EC50 (yield) was 30.1 (14.7 -70.8) mg/L, 72H-EC10 (yield) was <0.0921 mg/L. Although the EC50 of growth rate inhibition and yield inhibition are comparable, the EC10, EC20 and the NOEC/LOEC strongly differ due to the fact that the average yield inhibition was >=31% in all test concentration groups.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
30.1 mg/L

Additional information

The toxicity of the test item to the unicellular freshwater green alga Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was determined according to the OECD 201 principles and GLP. The aim of the study was to assess the effects on growth rate and yield over a period of 72 hours. The study was conducted under static conditions with an initial cell density of 5297 cells/mL. Based on a preliminary test 7 concentrations were tested in a geometrical series with a dilution factor of 3.16 (nominal): 0.100 -0.316 -1.00 -3.16 -10.0 -31.6 -100 mg/L corresponding to the geometric mean measured concentrations: 0.0921 -0.347 -1.13 -3.62 -11.4 -33.9 -83.1 mg/L. 3 replicates were tested for each test item concentration and 6 replicates for the control.3 replicates of the highest test concentration were additionally tested with an initial pH value of 7.90 to test for pH-related effects. The environmental conditions were within acceptable limits. The concentrations of test item were analytically verified by LC-MS/MS at the start and the end of the exposure and every 24 hours of all test concentrations, pH-control and the control. The measured concentrations at start of the exposure were in the range of 100 to 119%, after 24 h 96 to 119%, after 48 h 83 to 119% and after 72 h in the range of 57 to 109% of the nominal values. Therefore, all effects values given are based on the geometric mean measured concentrations of the test item.
