Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

PBT assessment

Currently viewing:

Administrative data

PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

Persistence

Available data : 0 -1% biodegradation in two studies performed according to OECD guideline 301B.

Criteria : <60% biodegradation (OECD 301B)

Screening assignment : Potentially P or vP

Available data : The OECD 302B results fulfill all criteria based on DOC kinetic. However, the absorption control (a poisoned flask containing test item and HgCl2 solution and inoculum) reached 86 % degradation at the end of the test. The test item is suspected to be absorbed onto the inoculum and not biodegraded.

Screening assignment : Potentially P or vP

Bioaccumulation

Available data : Octanol-water partition coefficient : log Pow = -0.98 (EU A.8)

Criteria : log Pow = >4.5

Screening assignment : B screening criteria not met.

Toxicity

Available data : EC50/daphnia magna/48 hours = 6.5 mg/L (OECD 202), EC50/algae/72 hours = 30.1 mg/L (OECD 201).

Criteria : Acute E(L)C50 from standard acute toxicity tests <0.1 mg/L.

Screening assignment : T screening criteria not met.

Also not T based on NOEC >0.01mg/L for long term toxicity study using Daphnia magna and substance is not classified as carcinogenic (category 1A or 1B), germ cell mutagenic (category 1A or 1B) or toxic for reproduction (category 1A, 1B or 2) according to Regulation EC No 1272/2008 and no other evidence of chronic toxicity as identified by specific target organ toxicity after repeated exposure (STOT RE category 1 or 2) according to Regulation EC 1272/2008.
