Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Adsorption / desorption

Parent compound isovaleryl chloride and hydrolysis product isovaleric acid: Adsorption to solid soil phase is not expected.

However, the assessment of the adsorption potential of the parent compound may be of low relevance due to the rapid hydrolysis of the acid chlorid in aqueous solutions.

Henry's Law constant

Parent compound isovaleryl chloride: From the water surface, the substance will rapidly evaporate into the atmosphere.

Hydrolysis product isovaleric acid: From the water surface, the substance will not evaporate into the atmosphere.

However, the assessment of the volatility of the parent compound may be of low relevance due to the rapid hydrolysis of the acid chloride in aqueous solutions.

Distribution modelling

Parent compound isovaleryl chloride: Over time, the substance will preferentially distribute into the compartments water (10.7%) and air (89.3%).

However, the model calculation may be of low relevance as the compound rapidly decomposes in water (t1/2<< 24 h).

Hydrolysis product isovaleric acid: Over time, the substance will preferentially distribute into water (94.9 %).
