Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

Endpoint:
explosive properties of explosives
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance contains chemical groups associated with explosive properties which include oxygen, but the calculated oxygen balance is less than - 200
Justification for type of information:
The oxygen balance is calculated for the chemical reaction (as given in ECHA’s guidance document RIP 7a. Pg 107)
CxHyOz + [x + (y/4) - (z/2)] O2 → x CO2 + (y/2) H2O
Using the formula:
Oxygen balance = -1600 [2x + (y/2)-z]/molecular weight
Oxygen balance = -1600 [2x16 + (26/2) – 2]/250.379
Oxygen balance = -1600 [32 + 13 – 2]/250.379
Oxygen balance = -1600 x 43/250.379
Oxygen balance = -274

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
In accordance with adaptation mentioned in column 2 of Annex VII of REACH regulation, this end point was considered for waiver since the substance contains oxygen but the calculated oxygen balance is less than -200. Thus, the chemical will not exhibit explosive property. Thus, the GHS criteria are not met.
Executive summary:

In accordance with adaptation mentioned in column 2 of Annex VII of REACH regulation, this end point was considered for waiver since the substance contains oxygen but the calculated oxygen balance is less than -200. Thus, the chemical will not exhibit explosive property. Thus, the GHS criteria are not met.
