Preliminary screening test.

In a preliminary test, about 30 g of test substance was used to form the test pile. The substance was ignited within two minutes of application of a flame; after removing the flame the substance smouldered flameless and smokeless, and changed colour from white to grey. A sharp reaction front propagated slowly over the whole length of the test pile, taking 2733 seconds (45 minutes and 33 seconds) to cover the 200 mm distance. This propagation velocity, 0.073 mm/s, is below the limiting value of the method, and the test substance is therefore assessed to be not highly flammable.

Interpretation of results:
non flammable
Remarks:
Migrated information
Conclusions:
In a preliminary test, the measured propagation velocity (0.073 mm/s) was below the limiting value. No further testing was carried out, and tetraammineplatinum(II) hydrogencarbonate was assessed to be not highly flammable.
Executive summary:

In a guideline study, conducted to GLP, the flammability of the solid test substance, tetraammineplatinum(II) hydrogencarbonate was assessed. In a preliminary test, the measured propagation velocity (0.073 mm/s) was below the limiting value. No further testing was carried out, and tetraammineplatinum(II) hydrogencarbonate was assessed to be not highly flammable.

Description of key information

In a preliminary test, the measured propagation velocity (0.073 mm/s) was below the limiting value. No further testing was carried out, and tetraammineplatinum(II) hydrogencarbonate was assessed to be not highly flammable (Wildner, 1997).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the results of the available and reliable study, classification under EU CLP for flammability is not required.
