Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Conclusion on classification

Environmental classification for the tetraammineplatinum(II) substances under consideration is based on the lowest acute and chronic threshold values from the tetraammineplatinum(II) ecotoxicity test data:

-acute ERV: lowest acute threshold value is 8.6 mg Pt/L (geometric mean EC50 value with D. magna, based on the experimental results for tetraammineplatinum diacetate and tetraammineplatinum dihydrogencarbonate)

-chronic ERV: lowest chronic threshold value is 1.41 mg Pt/L (lowest EC10 value for toxicity to algae observed for tetraammineplatinum acetate).

The derivation of both ERV values is detailed in the read-across justification report (cfr. IUCLID Section 13).

For classification purposes, these ERVs have been recalculated to the values expressed as the concentration of the substance (conversion based on molecular weight conversion from soluble ion to the substance considered – cfr. details in below table). Environmental classification is derived as outlined in ECHA Guidance on the application of the CLP criteria (version 5.0; ECHA, 2017) - cfr. below table.

Environmental classification is assessed:

-for acute toxicity: based on the acute ERV for the category

-for chronic toxicity: based on the acute and chronic ERVs for the category. As highlighted in the read-across justification document, chronic data are only available for algae. This algae tox data are the basis for the chronic ERV. However, for classification purposes, the classification using the more reliable acute ERV is also derived and the most conservative classification is maintained.

All substances covered in this category are classified as Aquatic Chronic 3 (H412) based on the acute ERV. No classification for acute aquatic hazard is required (acute ERV > 1 mg/L).
