Description of key information

None of the substances in the category Rosin, hydrogenated rosin and their salts are considered to be flammable, flammable on contact with water or pyrophoric.

Rosin is not highly flammable (ignites briefly and does not propagate), there is no spontaneous ignition or evolution of gases in contact with water and pyrophoricity is waived on the basis of handling and use.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

A GLP-compliant study, conducted according to EU Method A.10 (flammability of solids), was provided for Rosin (Chilworth Technology, 2010a)

A GLP-compliant study, conducted according to EU Method A.12 (flammability in contact with water), was provided for Rosin (Chilworth Technology, 2010a).

Justification for classification or non-classification

The available data indicates that Rosin is not classified as flammable.
