Additional information

Biodegradation was not investigated experimentally with Choline hydrogen carbonate. Based on the structural similarity and other characteristics, Choline chloride (CAS 67-48-1) can be considered as reliable read-across substance. For further details and justification of this procedure, please refer to the separate read-across statement by Chemservice S.A. (2013). Choline chloride was found to be readily biodegradable by attaining 75 - 90 % degradation already after 5 days (BASF AG, 1984). Further investigations concerning biodegradation in surface water, sediment and soil are not triggered and these endpoints can be waived in accordance to REACH, Annex IX, Section 9.2.1.2., column 2 (surface water), REACH, Annex IX, Section 9.2.1.4, column 2 (sediment) and REACH, Annex IX, Section 9.2.1.3, column 2 (soil), respectively.
