Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

According “ANNEX VII - STANDARD INFORMATION REQUIREMENTS FOR SUBSTANCES MANUFACTURED OR IMPORTED IN QUANTITIES OF ONE TONNE OR MORE” the study does not need to be conducted if the substance is incapable of reacting exothermically with combustible materials, on the basis of the chemical structure.
Magnesium has not of oxidation reduction potential. Magnesium do not contain a substance capable of reacting exothermically with combustible materials, on the basis of the chemical structure.
Due to the absence of chemical groups associated with oxidizing properties or other structural alerts this substance is not considered to exhibit oxidizing properties
Containing no oxygen, chlorine and fluorine. Magnesium is used as a reducing agent in metal refining.
Therefore testing for oxidizing properties and for oxidation reduction potential does not need to be performed.

Key value for chemical safety assessment
