Endpoint:
relative self-ignition temperature (solids)
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2009-07-17
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.16 (Relative Self-Ignition Temperature for Solids)
Deviations:
no
Principles of method if other than guideline:
The Grewer oven was used to comply also with the CLP regulation (screening test for self-heating properties; VDI-Richtlinie 2263)
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Remarks:
Hessisches Ministerium für Umwelt, ländlichen Raum und Verbraucherschutz, Wiesbaden, Germany
Key result
Remarks on result:
no self ignition observed under the test conditions

The test item shows two small endothermic effects in the temperature ranges of about 120-175 °C and 180-240 °C (melting). No exothermal reaction of the test item was observed up to a maximum test temperature of 430 °C. After the measurement, the wire mesh container was empty.

Conclusions:
No auto-ignition of the test item was observed in the test according to the EU Method A.16.
The substance is not auto-flammable in the sense of the European Commission Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008

Description of key information
