Description of key information

Under the conditions of a DIN 51006 guideline study, Dioctyltin mercaptopropionate showed no self-ignition temperature.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The relative self-ignition temperature of the test material was investigated in accordance with the standardised guideline DIN 51006 using thermo gravimetry (TGA). The study was awarded a reliability score of 2 in accordance with the criteria set forth by Klimisch et al. (1997).

The test method according to regulation (EC) No. 440/2008, A.16 is not applicable because the test material melts and flows through the mesh of the wire mesh cube.

The test material was heated at 10 °C/minute from 50 up to 1000 °C under nitrogen and from 40 up to 600 °C under oxygen. Independent of the applied gas the decomposition of the test material starts above 260 °C. Under oxygen a self-ignition at 305 °C is observed, during decomposition, i.e. caused by decomposition products.

Under the conditions of this study the test material showed no self-ignition temperature.
