Justification:

The screening assessment of the available data for toluene indicates that conclusion (i) is appropriate for this substance as stipulated below.

Conclusion (i): The substance does not fulfil the PBT and vPvB criteria.

Therefore, the PBT/vPvB assessment stops at this point.

An exposure assessment and risk characterisation as for a non-PBT/vPvB substance may however be required if the substance fulfils the criteria for any of the hazard classes or categories listed in Article 14(4) of REACH, as amended from 1 December 2010 by Article 58(1) of Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP Regulation). Toluene fulfils the toxicity criterion (T) in the context of PBT assessment since it is classified ‘toxic for reproduction’ (Category 2; H361d), and for other evidence of chronic toxicity (Category 2; H373) according to GHS / CLP.
