Over 120 minutes, no significant changes in the surface tension were detected.

Conclusions:
According to this study, reaction mass of 2,2'-oxybisbutane (DSBE), DIPE, SBA and 2-methylpropan-2-ol (TBA) was classified as not surface active.
Executive summary:

The surface tension of an aqueous solution of reaction mass of 2,2'-oxybisbutane (DSBE), DIPE, SBA and 2-methylpropan-2-ol (TBA) was determined according to OECD 115 resp. EU A.5 under GLP conditions.

The surface tension of an aqueous solution of the test item was determined as 65.98 ±0.08 mN/m at 19.9 °C. Two measurements were performed for verification (after 60 and 120 minutes). No significant changes and thus no significant dependence on time were observed.
As all measured values were higher than 60 mN/m, the reaction mass of 2,2'-oxybisbutane (DSBE), DIPE, SBA and 2-methylpropan-2-ol (TBA) was classified as not surface active.
The surface tension of the negative control (water HPLC grade) lay within the accepted range.

Description of key information

A series of 10 measurements was performed to determine the surface tension of the pure test item (density 0.7515 kg/L). Two further series of 10 measurements were performed for verification on the same sample after 60 and 120 minutes. The surface tension for the respective series of measurements were 65.98, 70.08 and 68.19 mN/m. No significant changes and thus no significant dependence on time and temperature were observed. The surface tension of the negative control lay within the accepted range. The surface tension of the test item is 65.98 mN/m. As all measured values were higher than 60 mN/m, the reaction mass of 2,2'-oxybisbutane (DSBE), DIPE, SBA and 2-methylpropan-2-ol (TBA) was classified as not surface active.
