First-aid measures

Ingestion :

Arrange for transport to the nearest medical facility for examination and treatment by a physician as soon as possible.

Rinse mouth with water and dilute with water. Do not induce vomiting as this may increase the risk of aspiration of the liquid into the lungs causing chemical pneumonitis. Consumption of non-oily liquids (such as milk) may assist in delaying absorption of the liquid.

Inhalation :

In case of accident or if you feel unwell, seek medical advice immediately (show the label where possible).

Remove the victim from the contamination immediately to fresh air.

Keep the victim warm and quiet.

If breathing is week, irregular or has stopped, open his airway, loosen his collar and belt and administer artificial respiration.

Skin contact :

Remove all contaminated clothing, shoes and socks from the affected areas as quickly as possible, cutting them off if necessary. Wash the affected area under tepid running water using a mild soap. If irritation persists, arrange for transport to the nearest medical facility for examination and treatment by a physician as soon as possible.

Eye contact :

Gently rinse the affected eyes with clean water for at least 15 minutes. Arrange for transport to the nearest medical facility for examination and treatment by a physician as soon as possible.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing Media :

In case of fire, use foam, dry powder, CO2,

Incompatible extinguishing media :

Do not use direct water jet.

Specific Hazards under fire :

In case of fire and/or explosion do not breathe fumes.

Specific fire-fighting measures :

Move container from fire areas if it can be done without risk.

Keep personnel removed from and upwind of fire.

Shut off fuel to fire if possible to do so without hazard.

Evacuate non-essential personnel to safe area.

Protection of fire-fighters :

Firefighters should wear proper protective equipment.

In case of fire-fighting, chemical-cartridge respirators are necessary.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures :

Ventilate area after material pick up is complete.

Evacuate non essential personnel.

Wear proper protective equipment.

Measures for environmental effects :

Prevent spills from entering sewers, watercourses or low areas.

Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up :

For large spill, dike for later disposal.

In case of spill, absorb spill with inert material(e.g.,oil absorbent cotton), then place in a chemical waste container.

Preventive measures for secondary accident :

Eliminate all sources of ignition and ventilate the area.

Handling and storage

Handling :

Preventive measures :

Exposure control for handling personnel :

   When using do not smoke.

   Avoid contact with skin.

   Avoid contact with eyes.

Use only in the well-ventilated areas.

Restrict flow rate and ground / bond pipe joint to prevent electrostatic charge as this material has low electro conductivity and is easy to build up static electricity.

Protective measures against fire & explosion :

Take precautionary measures against static discharges.

Shut off all gas pilot and electrical(spark or hot wire) igniters and other sources of ignition during use and until all vapors(odors) are gone.

Do not expose to friction or shock.

   Use reduced-sparking hand tools.

Safety treatments :

Prevent vapor buildup by providing adequate ventilation during and after use.

Safety Measures/Incompatibility :

   Do not empty into drains.

Keep under nitrogen sealing for preventing from contact with air. Contacting with air may form explosive peroxides.

Storage :

Recommendation for storage :

  Keep container tightly closed.

Incompatible storage condition :

Keep away from sources of ignition -No smoking.

  Separate from oxidizing materials.

Inside storage should be in a cool well-ventilated, noncombustible location, away from all possible source of ignition.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Engineering measures :

Use only with adequate ventilation and in closed systems.

Use with local exhaust ventilation.

Make available emergency shower and eye wash in the work area.

Control value :

Not established.

Adopted value :

ACGIH TWA 300ppm (1015mg/m3)

Personal protective equipment :

Respiratory protection :

When respiratory protection is required for certain operations, use an approved respirator.

Consider the type of application, environmental concentrations and materials being used concurrently when determining respirator selection and use.

Hand protection :

Wear impervious glove made from Neoprene, as appropriate.

Eye protection :

Wear protective eyeglasses or chemical safety goggles.

Skin and body protection :

To prevent any contact, wear impervious clothing such as apron, boots, or whole-body suits made from Neoprene, as appropriate.

Safety and Health measures :

Wash hands before breaks and at the end of work.

Gargle before breaks and at the end of work.

Airborne Exposure Limits:

-OSHA Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL): 300 ppm (TWA)

-ACGIH Threshold Limit Value (TLV): 100 ppm (TWA)

Ventilation System:

A system of local and/or general exhaust is recommended to keep employee exposures below the Airborne Exposure Limits. Local exhaust ventilation is generally preferred because it can control the emissions of the contaminant at its source, preventing dispersion of it into the general work area. Please refer to the ACGIH document, Industrial Ventilation, A Manual of Recommended Practices, most recent edition, for details.

Personal Respirators (NIOSH Approved):

If the exposure limit is exceeded and engineering controls are not feasible, a full facepiece respirator with organic vapor cartridge may be worn up to 50 times the exposure limit or the maximum use concentration specified by the appropriate regulatory agency or respirator supplier, whichever is lowest. For emergencies or instances where the exposure levels are not known, use a full-facepiece positive-pressure, air-supplied respirator. WARNING: Air purifying respirators do not protect workers in oxygen-deficient atmospheres.

Skin Protection:

Wear protective gloves and clean body-covering clothing.

Eye Protection:

Use chemical safety goggles. Maintain eye wash fountain and quick-drench facilities in work area.

Stability and reactivity

Stability :

Vapours may catch fire and explode.

Other :

Contacting with air may form explosive peroxides.

Chemical Stability: Under normal storage conditions, peroxidizable compounds can form and accumulate peroxides which may explode when subjected to heat or shock. This material is most hazardous when peroxide levels are concentrated by distillation or evaporation.

Conditions to Avoid: Incompatible materials, light, ignition sources, oxidizers.

Incompatibilities with Other Materials: Oxidizing agents and acids..

Hazardous Decomposition Products: Carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide.

Hazardous Polymerization: Has not been reported.

Disposal considerations

This combustible material may be burned in a chemical incinerator equipped with an afterburner and scrubber.

Do not dump into sewers, on the ground or into any body of water.

Whatever cannot be saved for recovery or recycling should be handled as hazardous waste and sent to a RCRA approved incinerator or disposed in a RCRA approved waste facility. Processing, use or contamination of this product may change the waste management options. State and local disposal regulations may differ from federal disposal regulations. Dispose of container and unused contents in accordance with federal, state and local requirements.

Chemical waste generators must determine whether a discarded chemical is classified as a hazardous waste. US EPA guidelines for the classification determination are listed in 40 CFR Parts 261.3. Additionally, waste generators must consult state and local hazardous waste regulations to ensure complete and accurate classification.
