Description of key information

In a GLP study, conducted in accordance with OECD Guideline 105, the water solubility of DIDS was determined to be 0.095 mg/L at 20 °C (Walker, 2013). DIDS can therefore be considered practically insoluble in water.

In a GLP study, performed in accordance with OECD Guideline 105, the water solubility of DIDS was determined to be 0.095 mg/L at 20 °C using the flask method (Walker, 2013). DIDS can therefore be considered practically insoluble in water.

In addition, water solubility values of 4.78 x 10-8, 4.83 x 10-7and 3.37 x 10-5 mg/L were predicted for DIDS using the OECD QSAR Toolbox (v.3.0) (OECD, 2012). Water solubility was predicted from Log Kow and fragments (both using EPI Suite (WSKOWWIN)) and Multicase, respectively.

Relevant read-across data:

DIDA was of low solubility when assessed using the slow-stir method in a good quality study. Water solubility was 4.4 x 10-5 mg/L at 20 °C (Letinski et al. 2002).

Very low water solubility has been reported for DEHS by various sources (ACC, 2010; INEOS Enterprises, 2009c).

The low solubility of DIDA and DEHS support their use for read-across purposes for DIDS.
