Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In accordance with REACH Regulation, Annex VIII, column 2, the study does not need to be conducted as the subsance is readily biodegradable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Although hydrolysis study is not needed a partial study was performed to show that ph 4 hydrolysis shows a half-life of < 5 minutes:

As one main component of the test item ZUSATZMITTEL 19IF00 A was expected to undergo rapid hydrolysis in acidic conditions to 1-amino-2-propanol, the following determinations were performed in agreement with the sponsor.

In deviation to the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, Section 1 – Physical-Chemical Properties, OECD TG 111 (2004) the hydrolysisbehaviourof the test item in aqueous solutions was investigated at pH 4 with preliminary tests at room temperature (first measurement) and 27 °C (further measurements) over 60 hours.

The stability was monitored by1H-and13C-NMR spectroscopic determinations.

Within this study the hydrolytically behaviour of one main component of the test item (carbamic acid, (2-hydroxypropyl)-, compd. with 1-amino-2-propanol)was investigated.

Ethylene glycol as second main component of the test item was known to be stable in aqueous solutions. As agreed with the sponsor, it was decided that ethylene glycol should not be taken into consideration for the hydrolytically behaviour of the test item within this study.

The test item ZUSATZMITTEL 19IF00 A is therefore considered to be hydrolytically unstable at pH 4 and undergoes complete hydrolysis within 5 minutes. Due to the observed immediately and complete degradation of the test item, an exact determination of half-life time or hydrolysis rate was not possible.

Therefore the half-life time is set to: t ½ <5 min.
