Description of key information

A study to determine aquatic plant toxicity is needed if the intended use(s) and results from the risk assessment indicate that aquatic plants

are at risk. The risk assessment on the uses of N,N-Didecyl-N-methyl-poly(oxyethyl)ammonium Propionate as a disinfectant in the EU have indicated that there is no risk to aquatic plants, as the PEC/PNEC values are all < 1.

In addition, the Soil Microbial Community Test (OECD 216 and 217) conducted on the structural analogue Didecyldimethylammonium chloride (DDAC) indicates that there is no long-term adverse influence on

the nitrogen and carbon transformations in soils. Thus, it is considered that a toxicity study to aquatic plants is not justified.
