Description of key information

FORMAMIDOPROPYLBETAINE is auto-ignitable with an auto-ignition temperature of 425°C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The determination of the auto-ignition temperature of the test substance was performed in accordance with EEC-Directive 92/69 EEC, A 15 "Auto-Ignition temperature (liquids and gases), 1992", DIN 51794 "Bestimmung der ZUndtemperatur" (1978) and IEC standard 79-4: Method of test for ignition temperature (1975). Three tests were performed. In each test, different volumes of test substance were injected successive times into a test vessel. The temperature in the test vessel was lowered gradually from a sufficienty high temperature until a temperature at which it was obvious that no more ignition occurred. The lowest measured auto-ignition temperature was 429°C at an injection volume of 90 µl. In accordance with DIN 51794, this temperature was rounded down to the nearest 5°C giving the auto-ignition temperature for the test ssbstance. In conclusion, FORMAMIDOPROPYLBETAINE is auto-ignitable with an auto-ignition temperature of 425°C.
