Description of key information

The 28 day NOEC for emergence rate of Chironomus riparius is 180 mg/kg and the lowest EC50 is 420 mg/kg based on emergence rate.

A single sediment toxicity study is available for 1-dodecene trimer, hydrogenated (CAS 151006-62-1). Although this substance is not being registered as a member of this category it falls within the category domain and is therefore considered fully appropriate for read across. Goodband and Mullee (2009) followed OECD Guideline 218 to determine the 28 day NOEC and EC50 for Chironomus emergence and development rate. Acetone was used as a solvent to disperse the test substance into the formulated sediment. The solvent was allowed to evaporate before additional sediment was mixed with the spiked sediment and water added. A solvent control was also included. These data will be read across to all category members.
