Melting point (EDTMP-xCaNa): >400°C (EU Method A.1)

The sample was observed to undergo a minor exothermic effect from 165.6°C. An endothermic effect was then observed to commence at 285.7°C. There was no significant exothermic effect observed up to 400°C (i.e no melting behaviour was observed for the substance) in accordance with EU Method A.1 and in compliance with GLP. The result is considered reliable and selected as key study.

Reviewer's remark: The exothermic effect observed from 165.6°C could be as a result of decomposition of the sample material. This statement is supported by another study result from the same author (Rowe 2002, report number: 18602) which showed that the test substance undergoes thermal decomposition (substance discoloured to brown or black) during both preliminary and main studies.

A melting point range of 200 - 225°C was reported in secondary sources to which no reliability could be assigned.
